How Inner Pathway handles personal information.

This page is written for the new website and is being reviewed before the domain is moved from the current provider.

You do not need to include detailed personal or counselling information in an initial email or telephone enquiry.

Who is responsible for your information?

Debra Elizabeth Upton, trading as Inner Pathway Counselling, is the data controller. You can contact Inner Pathway at debi@innerpathway.co.uk or on 07363 056570. Inner Pathway Counselling is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), registration number ZC188168.

Who this notice applies to

This notice applies to adults aged 18 and over who make an enquiry, arrange an introductory call, receive counselling, or otherwise contact Inner Pathway Counselling.

Information that may be collected

Depending on your relationship with the practice, this can include your contact details, information you choose to provide in an enquiry, appointment information, counselling agreements, payment records, limited professional records, and information relevant to the counselling work.

Counselling may involve information about physical or mental health, disability or neurodivergence. This can be special category personal data and is handled with additional care.

Why information is used

  • to respond to enquiries and arrange appointments;
  • to decide whether Inner Pathway can offer appropriate counselling;
  • to provide counselling and maintain appropriate professional records;
  • to manage payments, administration and practice safety;
  • to meet legal, insurance and professional obligations;
  • to obtain clinical supervision while protecting your identity as far as reasonably possible.

Inner Pathway Counselling does not sell personal information.

Confidentiality and supervision

What you share in counselling is treated as confidential, subject to the limited exceptions explained in the counselling agreement and required by law or professional practice. Debi attends regular clinical supervision. Client identity is protected as far as reasonably possible when work is discussed in supervision.

Website enquiries

This website deliberately does not use an online enquiry form. Contact is by telephone or email so that no extra form-processing service is introduced. Please keep first contact brief and avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information.

Website hosting and analytics

The new site is hosted on GitHub Pages. The site itself does not use advertising trackers, marketing pixels or third-party analytics. GitHub may process technical information required to serve the website under its own privacy arrangements.

Records and storage

Inner Pathway uses a restricted practice-management and record-keeping process. Clinical information is kept separate from ordinary administrative material and access is limited to authorised people. Records are retained only for as long as there is a genuine professional, legal, insurance or safeguarding reason to keep them.

Your data-protection rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to ask what information is held about you, request a copy, ask for inaccurate information to be corrected, request deletion or restriction in certain circumstances, object to some processing, or withdraw consent where consent is the lawful basis.

To ask about your personal information, email debi@innerpathway.co.uk. You can also raise a concern with the Information Commissioner's Office.
